about this program

The Littlehorn League | U6, U8, U10

Field hockey, the way it should be at this age.

The Lonestar Littlehorn League is a new kind of program built specifically for young players. Every week your daughter trains for 45 minutes with a Lonestar coach, takes a quick break, then plays a real game with her teammates. She wears the same jersey every week. She plays alongside the same friends. She becomes part of something.

What makes Littlehorn different

Most beginner sports programs are just training, week after week. Kids learn skills but never get to use them in real games until they're older. Littlehorn changes that. Every week is half practice, half game — so players get the technical work AND the joyful chaos of real competition. From day one.

Permanent teams. Real jerseys.

Every player is assigned to a team named after a Texas animal — the Armadillos, the Roadrunners, the Mockingbirds, the Jackrabbits, the Horny Toads, the Bobcats, and more. Each team has its own jersey, included in registration. Players stay on the same team for as long as they're in the league, building real friendships, real loyalty, and real team identity.

Bring a friend

When you register, you can request one friend to be on your daughter's team. We'll honor every reasonable request when teams are sorted. (Your daughter's friend must also register — we can't add kids who haven't signed up.)

What a session looks like

90 minutes total. First 45 minutes: Lonestar coaches lead structured skill work — dribbling, passing, ball control — designed to build foundations the right way. Quick water break. Final 45 minutes: real game time. Teams play each other, kids put their new skills into action, and everyone goes home tired and happy.

Who it's for

Any girl aged 4–9 in Dallas. Total beginners welcome — many Littlehorn players have never picked up a stick before. We provide everything you need to get started: sticks, instruction, jerseys.

What your daughter will gain

The confidence that comes from learning something new every week. The friendships that form when you train and play alongside the same kids for a season and a foundation in a sport that, for the kids who want it, can carry her all the way to college.

From Our Families

Everyone was incredibly patient and kind - the girls all accepted MK into the fold instantly and she never looked back. MK was truly a beginner, field hockey was the first team sport she had played and the learning curve was steep – when her school coach saw her again that fall of 8th grade he was shocked at how much she had improved (a testament to the Lonestar coaches and playing model for sure!).
