about this program

U12 Travel

Travel is for everyone.

U12 Travel is where tournament hockey begins — with no tryouts and no barriers. Every player who wants to travel, travels. One team, 7v7, and a season built around maximum fun, maximum development, and falling in love with the sport.

How to join

No tryouts. Register for the current season and you're in. To attend a tournament, you just need to be registered for the season it falls in.

The season

Two travel tournaments — Sunshine Showcase (Orlando, Jan) and The Midwest Cup (St Louis, May) — plus our two hosted Texas invitationals. Before every travel tournament, the whole club comes together for a bootcamp day, where players from all three cities train as one team. Tournament costs are pooled and split evenly among attending players — the club makes zero profit on travel. See how Travel works at Lonestar and the full season calendar →

Training attendance: we ask families to aim for 75% — tournament teams are built at training, and your daughter's tournament experience is better when she's better prepared.

What a week looks like

Monday evening sessions focus on technical work and game scenarios. Thursday night games in the Dallas Middle School League. Wednesday evening sessions build tactical understanding and competitive sharpness.

Who it's for

Players in grades 5–6 who want to add real tournament hockey to their week. Prior experience helps but isn't required — enthusiasm and a willingness to learn matter more.

What you'll gain

Her first taste of tournament hockey — the bus-ride friendships, the nerves before the first whistle, the joy of competing for something together. A foundation in the modern game. And a clear pathway forward: U12 Travel players step up to U14 Travel tryouts when they age up, on the path that has sent so many Lonestar players to college hockey.

From Our Families

Everyone was incredibly patient and kind - the girls all accepted MK into the fold instantly and she never looked back. MK was truly a beginner, field hockey was the first team sport she had played and the learning curve was steep – when her school coach saw her again that fall of 8th grade he was shocked at how much she had improved (a testament to the Lonestar coaches and playing model for sure!).
